Las preposiciones en inglés de lugar y movimiento nos ayudan a ubicarnos en el espacio y con todo lo que nos rodea. Te explicaremos cada una de las preposiciones y más adelante encontrarás un gráfico que te ayudará a comprender mejor cada una de ellas.

Preposiciones en inglés de lugar

  • On Sobre, encima (tocando la superficie).
         My book is on the table.     También puede referirse a la ubicación de un edificio sobre una           calle o avenida.
         The National Museum is on   7th avenue.
  • Below /Under – Debajo.
         The car park isbelowreception.
         The waste basket is under the desk.
  • Over /Above  Encima de, sobre. (sin tocar la superficie).
        The second floor isabovereception.
         The lamps are over the students.
  • In –  Dentro de, en (refiriéndose a un lugar)
         Those students areinthe classroom.
         Monserrate is in Bogotá.
  • Behind –   Detrás.
         The board is behind the teacher.
  • In front of –   En  frente  de.
         The Gold Museum is in front ofSantander  park.
  • Between – En medio de.
         David is between Mónica and Ana Milena.
  • Beside/ next to  – Al lado de.
         Nelson is next to Diana.
  • Near (to) – Cerca de.
          That restaurant is near my house.

Preposiciones de movimiento

Estas preposiciones en inglés indican como llegar a un lugar.

  • Into – Dentro.  Entrar (Acompañado  del verbo GO)
         Go into the elevator.
  •  Out of –  Fuera de. Salir de (Acompañado del verbo GO)
          Go out of the office and turn left.
  • Up – Arriba.  Subir (acompañado del verbo GO)
         Go up to the third floor.
  • Through  – A través de, atravesar.
         Go through the park on the way to the library.
  • Across –  En frente (Prep. de lugar)
         The restaurant is across the Street.
         Atravesar  -(Acompañada del verbo GO).
        We go across the road for a coffee.
  • Around – Alrededor, en torno a.
         Go around the park and you will find the main gate.
